Amy grew up with her sister doing "little girl activities". Camping was unheard of in her childhood. As an adult, she has been blessed with three boys. She quickly had to learn about "boy activities."
While living in Mississippi, Amy decided to give Scouting a try when her husband volunteered her to be her oldest son's Bear den leader. Completely oblivious, she jumped in with both feet! She even completed Wood Badge Course SR-739.
She and her family moved to Tennessee in 2006. Despite enrolling in school full-time and determined to continue Scouting with her boys, Amy volunteered for Mission District's Twilight Camp, Mountain District's Day Camp, and WEBELOS Resident Camp. She enjoyed it so much that she went on to National Camp School in 2008 to get her Camp Director certification. She will remain the Camp Director for WEBELOS Resident Camp through 2012.
For the past three years, Amy has been the Program Promotion Chairperson for Mission District. Under her direction, units have come together to increase their popcorn revenue each year. She was also awarded the District Award of Merit in 2009.
Scouting has opened a whole new outdoor world for her to enjoy with her boys! In what little spare time is left for her, Amy is a nursing student at The University of Tennessee Chattanooga where she will graduate in May 2012.
