He started Scouting with Cub Scout Pack 474, Milwaukee County Council in 1962. After earning his Arrow of Light he went on to Boy Scout Troop 21 where he earned Eagle in July 1969. At 18 he took a 30 year vacation from Scouting, spending most of his time yachting with the US Coast Guard. After three daughters, a son, Mason, was born which presented the opportunity to re-enter the Scouting program. Wanting to do as little as possible and simply enjoy Mason’s scouting experience he was volunteered into Assistant Cubmaster, Pack Trainer, Mountain District Training Chair, Popcorn Kernel, Cubmaster, Assistant Webelos Den Leader and Council Flag Team Trainer.
Blaine escaped Cub Scouts when Mason crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 172, February 2010. It’s been a year and Mason earned Tenderfoot at this past Summer Camp. As a Troop Committee Member of Troop 172 there are a bunch of things he has been and will continue to get volunteered for.
