Chris participated in Cub Scouts in elementary school and was a Boy Scout in junior/high school, earning the rank of Life Scout before aging out. He thought his hopes of one day participating in Scouting as an adult were over when he and his wife, Angie, were told by the ultrasound technician that their second child was 95% certain a girl. After grilling the tech several times to make absolutely certain there wasn't a boy in the picture, Chris resolved himself that it would be a girl, moping around for the next few months and just praying for a healthy child. But that wasn't the end of the story for his Scouting career and when it came time for delivery, hope was restored as the 5% odds delivered a 100% boy. The doctor was surprised; Chris was ecstatic; and noone in his family believed him when he announced "It's a boy!"
When it came time for his son to join Scouting, Chris dove in head first as a Tiger leader. He stuck with it as a wolf and bear leader as well, then took over as Cubmaster of Pack 3266 at Burks UMC in 2009. He is currently in his second year in that position. One of his favorite parts of Scouting, besides singing silly songs with his son and the other Scouts, is the training. He has taken a number of courses over the years, will be attending his fourth University of Scouting in February, and completed his WoodBadge tickets in June for course SR-948 that he attended in 2009 as part of the Beaver Patrol. For the past three years, he as served as the archery range master and leader for the Mountain District's Day Camp at Chester Frost Park and he ran the rifle range at last year's Cub n Partner at Skymont. He has also served as a trainer for the Mtn. District.
Chris is extremely excited and looking forward to serving as a troop guide for the upcoming WoodBadge course.
