Chuck Gruter is a dad who brought his son Hunter Gruter to a Cub Scout meeting in 2005. Hunter saw a presentation at school and wanted more details on joining Scouting. Natalie McMasters is the first person from Scouting that Hunter and Chuck met...and if you know Natalie...you will understand when they say..."the rest is history"! Thank you Natalie!
Chuck and Hunter located the Ooltewah United Methodist Church in Ooltewah, TN and Cub Scout Pack 3147. Scheduling conflicts tossed Chuck into the Assistant Den Leader position and then ultimately Den Leader...thank you Steve Scharf for all your help and guidance! Will Council helped Chuck cross-over into a Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster. Chuck has achieved his Masters Degree from University of Scouting. Dennis Williams suggested Wood Badge as a means of furthering the Scouting experience. Tim Reutebuch serving as Scoutmaster for Troop 147 has provided an infinite amount of knowledge, feedback ( feedback is a gift ), and support...Thank you Dennis and Tim!
So as you can see Chuck's Scouting bio is primarily the work of others...which is how Scouting remains such an important teaching tool for anyone at any age. Friendship, support, confidence, and guidance are the tools Boy Scouts imparts to young men...and their dads as well!
Chuck is a VERY PROUD Eagle from Wood Badge course SR-948 and serving as a Troop Guide for course S6-556-11-1.
