Eric Black Biography

Eric Black became a Cub Scout in Grand Rapids, MI in 1983.  Later he moved to Fayetteville, NC where be bridged to Boy Scouts with a Troop on Ft. Bragg.  His first outdoor adventure with the Troop was a 10-day hiking trek on the Appalachian Trail.  He later moved to Albany, NY where he continued in Scouting until moving to Hopkinsville, KY where he received his Eagle Scout in 1992 and Bronze Palm. 

While a Scout in KY, Eric served on summer camp staff for four years at Camp Wildcat Hollow in Russellville, KY.  Upon entering college at Murray State University in Murray, KY, Eric served on the summer camp staff at Camp Roy C. Manchester, located on Kentucky Lake.  He served as Aquatics Director for three years and Program Director for one year.   

Upon graduating college, Eric joined the professional staff of the Shawnee Trails Council in western Kentucky as a District Executive in 2003.  He later promoted to the Cherokee Area Council as a Senior District Executive in 2006 and currently serves as District Director for the Mountain District.  

Eric is a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, attended Wood Badge Course SR-652 in the Shawnee Trails Council, and was Council Contingent Leader for a Philmont trek in 2006.  Eric is also active in the North River Rotary Club in Chattanooga and is a Kentucky Colonel.  Eric is married with two sons.
