Steve Jones started his career in scouting as a cub with Pack 240 in Sikeston, Mo. After earning his Arrow of Light Steve joined Troop 43. During his time with Troop 43 he became active as member of the Order of the Arrow. In 1984 his family relocated to Centralia, IL where he continued his scouting career as a member Troop 279. Upon aging out of Scouting in 1986, Steve had reached the rank of Life Scout.
20 years later Steve again heard the call to Scouting. In 2006 Steve’s son Kevin crossed over into Boy Scouts joining Troop 159 in Stephens City, VA. Initially signing on as an Assistant Scoutmaster, later that year he took on the role of Scoutmaster. He remained as their Scoutmaster until the summer of 2008 when he and his family relocated to the Cleveland, TN area.
His son Kevin chose to join Troop 82 in Harrison, TN. Interested in continuing his career in Scouting he signed on as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Troop. During 2009 he took a group of 8 Scouts to Germany for the 2009 Bundeslager. Spending 14 days in Germany the group visited Wolfsburg, Berlin, and Potsdam. During the trip the group met scouts from Germany, Italy, Turkey, Hong Kong, and England to name a few. This was the first trip with the Troop’s sister unit in Germany, Stamm (tribe) Ikarus. In December 2009 Steve took on the position of Scoutmaster.
Steve is a proud Beaver from SR-893 (Shenandoah Council) and is excited to be a part of this Woodbadge Course!
