Vann is married to Jodi and without her support he would not be able to do any of these things listed below. Vann participated in Cub Scouts with Pack 448 in Knoxville, TN, in The Great Smoky Mountain Council, and earned the Arrow of Light award, the highest award in Cub Scouts. After Cub Scouts, Vann Crossed Over to Boy Scouts and joined Troop 72 and then transfer to Troop 154 in Powell, TN., where he became a member of the Order of the Arrow in the Pellissippi’ Lodge and earned the rank of Life Scout before aging out. He started back in Cub Scouts with his two sons, Chase, in 2004, and, Cord, in 2007. He has been a Tiger Cub Leader twice, Wolf and Bear Leader twice, Webelos Leader going on twice now and is the Cubmaster for Pack 3002 at Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church in Chickamauga, GA. Vann transitioned into Troop 224 with his son, Chase, in 2009, where he is the Chartered Organization Representative and the Committee Chairman at Oakwood Baptist Church. He also serves as a Committee Member for Venturing Crew 2024. Vann is a member of the John Ross District committee. He has earned the Tiger Leader, Den Leader, Webelos Leader, Scouter and Cubmaster knots.
He has taken numerous courses over the years and will be attending his seventh University of Scouting in February, which the last two he has helped staff, and this year he is the Dean of Youth Leadership Training. In addition, he has earned his Doctorate Degree from University of Scouting. In 2009, Vann graduated from Wood Badge Course SR-948 as a Buffalo.
He is a Brotherhood member of the Talidandaganu’ Lodge of the Order of the Arrow.
When Vann is not scouting, he is the Civil Engineer for the Oglethorpe Power Corporation in the Regulatory, Safety & Technical Services group and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Tennessee and Georgia. He also retired from TVA after 30 years of services.
